Svoronata and Lakithra are located in the Southwest of the island of Kefalonia,
approximately 4 miles south of Argostoli, and 2 miles south of Lassi. Although
the area is only minutes from the airport the it's peaceful and scenically very beautiful with lots of olive groves and fields full of wild flowers.
Svoronata village itself is situated about a mile inland, three excellent
beaches- Ammes, Avithos and Ai Helis are all within a 30-40 minute walk
depending on the exact location of your accommodation. Much of the accommodation
is situated near to Ai Helis and Ammes beaches. Avithos beach is about a mile
from the centre of the village, its beautiful and remains uncrowned all season.
Avithos is ideal for children as the water is shallow, and there are a 2
tavernas at the beginning of the beach, and space to park.
Ai Helis, is an
organized beach offering beach volleyball, table tennis and a lifeguard.
There is a good go-kart track called Imola, just off the road from Svoronata to
Avithos, which is open from about 5.00pm every evening if you fancy burning off
a bit off energy after all the lazing around! It cost 9 euro per person for
about 15 minutes.
The village has hotels including the Irinna and Blue Horizon and a variety of
self-catering apartments and studios scattered around, many with their own pools
and snack bar facilities. Libra, Argo and golden sun holidays feature the
village in their brochures, but there is also plenty of good accommodation which
can be booked independently. |
